ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia accepted the registration of presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto and vice presidential candidate Gibran Rakabuming Raka on Wednesday (25/10/2023).
The Prabowo-Gibran pair arrived at the KPU at around 11.20 WIB. The couple’s arrival was welcomed by thousands of supporters who had been waiting since morning.
Prabowo and Gibran are supported by the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM), whose members are the Greater Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra), Golongan Karya Party (Golkar), National Mandate Party (PAN), Democratic Party, Crescent Star Party (PBB), People’s Wave Party (Gelora), the Garuda Party, the Prima Party, and the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI).
As a reference, Prabowo Subianto is currently still actively serving as Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia, while Gibran Rakabuming Raka is still actively serving as Mayor of Surakarta. He is also the son of the current President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
After this registration, the KPU will announce the determination of the presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs on November 13 2023. Then, the serial numbers will be drawn on November 14 2023.
Rosan Roeslani is believed to be the head of the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team
To win this pair, Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Rosan Roeslani was appointed Chair of the National Campaign Team for the Advanced Indonesia Coalition.
Before serving as deputy Minister of BUMN, Rosan previously served as Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the United States.
Rosan is a figure with an entrepreneurial background. He served as Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry/KADIN for the 2015-2021 period.
During his tenure as Chairman of KADIN, the Belgian Government awarded him the position of Commander in Chief in the framework of Leopold Belgium in recognition of his innovation and contribution in further advancing trade and industrial relations between Indonesia and Belgium.
This man, born in Jakarta on December 31 1968, began his professional journey in the fields of finance and entrepreneurship. His passion in this field has led him to occupy several key positions in the early stages of his career, such as Financial Advisor to the Indonesian Batik Cooperative Association for the 1997-2002 period and Deputy General Treasurer of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association for the 2005-2008 period.
During the 2019 General Election, Rosan was Deputy Chair of the Joko Widodo-Ma’ruf Amin National Campaign Team (TKN).
He was then involved in a number of strategic government initiatives as a key private sector representative including Chair of the Indonesian Omnibus Law Job Creation Task Force for the 2019-2021 period and Chair of the National Arbitration Agency (BANI) Advisory Board for the 2019-2021 period.
He also serves as Deputy Chair of the Courtesy Board of the Indonesian Sharia Economic Community (MES).
Rosan has also been involved in several large government-led programs, such as Chair of the Indonesian Olympic Contingent Mission for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (2021) and Deputy Chair of COVID-19, National Economic Response and Recovery Committee/KPC-PEN (2020-2021). Apart from that, Rosan has also been Chairman of the Indonesian Weightlifting Association/PABSI since 2015.
Rosan studied Finance at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1988-1992 and earned an MBA from European University, Antwerp, Belgium in 1993-1994. (AT Network)
