Welcoming the 2024 Chinese New Year Holiday, Indonesia Prepares a Travel Map for Tourists

ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has prepared a travel pattern ahead of the Chinese New Year holiday for domestic and foreign tourists.

“In 2024, the government is targeting visits of 14.3 foreign tourists and 1.2 billion to 1.5 billion movements of domestic tourists. We have created a travel map which includes the tourist destinations of Jakarta, Surakarta (Solo), Semarang, Palembang and Singkawang,” explained the Minister of Tourism, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno during The Weekly Brief With Sandi Uno in Jakarta, Monday, January 29 2024.

Sandiaga explained that the Chinatown area, which is one of the popular tourist areas in every city in Indonesia, is unique and attracts the attention of many tourists.

In Chinatown, the variety of Chinese culture is very strong, starting from gates, buildings, heritage, places of worship, accessories, to culinary delights.

“The Chinatown tourist area is full of the culture of the Chinese community in Indonesia in the form of building heritage, daily community activities, tourist attractions such as culinary centers and shops,” he said.

The Ministry of Tourism also recommends the Chinatown tourist area, welcoming Chinese New Year and Cap Go Meh celebrations, among others; Glodok-Petak Sembilan Jakarta is a mainstay like Glodok Chinatown.

Then there is the Chinatown tourist destination in the Kauman area, Central Semarang, with the Cap Go Meh celebration tradition of a procession of the Samp Poo Kong statue from the Tay Kak Sie temple to Gedung Batu.

Another Chinatown tourist destination is in the Pasar Gede Solo area which will hold the Grebeg Sudiro attraction which will take place from January 28 to February 10 2024.

In Sumatra, there is the tourist destination Kemaro Island, Palembang l as one of the mainstay tourist attractions of Palembang City with its tradition of lion dance arts, Chinese wayang puppetry and other traditional arts.

And finally there is a tourist destination included in the Karisma Nusantara Event, namely Cap Go Meh Singkawang, West Kalimantan, which is known as the city of a thousand monasteries/temples which will be held on 10-24 February 2024. (AT Network)
