ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Indonesian jewelry products are increasingly being accepted on the global market.

The Ministry of Industry noted that the export value of jewelry and valuables from Indonesia reached $547.5 million in December 2023, or an increase of 67.7 percent (y-o-y) compared to the achievement in December 2022 of $326 million.

“This increase shows that the Indonesian jewelry industry sector has the opportunity to continue to grow and develop in the international market,” said Director General of Small, Medium and Miscellaneous Industries, Ministry of Industry, Reni Yanita in Jakarta, Sunday, March 10 2024.

According to Reni, the Indonesian jewelry industry has great potential to compete on the global stage. The strength of this sector is supported by the creativity and innovation of craftsmen who are able to produce a variety of jewelry products according to developing market trends and tastes.

“The jewelry designs produced by craftsmen in Indonesia are increasingly diverse, more minimalist, but still functional in accordance with market demand,” he said.

To support the development of the jewelry industry in the country, the Ministry of Industry actively facilitates jewelry industry players to participate in international scale exhibitions, such as the Jakarta International Jewelery Fair 2024 which will be held on 7-10 March 2024 in Jakarta. Of the total 140 participants involved in this exhibition, 20 of them are government-assisted jewelry craftsmen.

The jewelry industry brands that are facilitated are Samara Collection, Kemayu Jewellery, Rockologist, Mahkota Jewelry, Lura Jewels Indonesia, Fahmi Accessories, Al Banjari, Permata Park, Runa, Lykastory, Mardiana Silver, Nbee Stone & Silver. Apart from that, Diftria Art Crafting, Rumah Perak Malang, Dinar Corporation, Queen Silver Lombok, Mutiara Lombok Waidah, and Akram Mutiara Lombok.

“Two other jewelry industries originate from West Nusa Tenggara, namely Lombok NTB Pearls and Mutiara adalah Kamu,” said Reni.

The Jakarta International Jewelery Fair is regularly held every year and is a meeting place for jewelry industry players and their supporting industries, ranging from manufacturers, distributors, shops, machinery companies, designers and local small and medium scale craftsmen, with jewelry consumers.

Reni assessed that this exhibition could be a good opportunity to promote jewelry products and other supporting products, as well as to establish business collaboration for all relevant stakeholders in the jewelry industry sector.

“This event not only provides inspiration for us to support Indonesian craftsmen, but also appreciates the cultural diversity of this country through the jewelry works produced,” he added. (ATN)
