ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia confirmed that no Indonesian citizens were victims of the severe turbulence experienced by the Singapore Airlines plane, which caused one passenger to die.
The plane with flight number SQ321 experienced severe turbulence while traveling from London, England to Singapore on May 20 2024. The plane then diverted to Bangkok and landed at 15.45 local time on May 21 2024.
“The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Bangkok has coordinated with local authorities and it is certain that no Indonesian citizens were victims of the turbulence incident experienced by the Singapore Airlines plane,” said the Director of Indonesian Citizen Protection, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, via short message, Tuesday, 21 May 2024 evening.
According to information on the official Singapore Airlines account on X, the airline said there were injuries and one fatality on board the Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Singapore Airlines also expressed its deepest condolences to the families of those killed.
