ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian government has prepared anticipatory steps against the monkeypox (Mpox) outbreak during the High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (HLF MSP) on 1-3 September 2024.
Deputy for Political, Legal, Defense and Security Affairs of the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Bogat Widyatmoko said that the government continues to monitor the situation related to the spread of Mpox.
This issue has even become a topic of discussion in the limited cabinet meeting to prepare for the 2nd HLF-MSP and Indonesia Africa Forum (IAF) events which were all held in Bali.
He said that his party had prepared a number of anticipatory steps regarding the potential spread of Mpox during the event, such as alerting health workers and screening body temperatures from arriving participants at the airport.
“We will implement prevention protocols in accordance with World Health Organization (WHO) standards, such as checking body temperature at the airport and so on. We have also prepared a quarantine place if in the early stages there are symptoms of heat,” explained Bogat in the HLF-MSP Media Briefing in Jakarta on Wednesday, August 28 2024.
He added that the anticipation for Mpox would be likened to Covid-19. This is because the government has learned a lot from handling the last Covid-19 pandemic to optimize the handling of the potential spread of Mpox.
Meanwhile, the HLF-MSP agenda will bring three important things.
First, is the Policy Summary and Recommendations. The results of discussions and parallel sessions will be summarized in the form of concrete policy recommendations to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 and implement inclusive and sustainable development policies.
Second, new commitments and initiatives from various stakeholders, including the private sector, philanthropy and civil society organizations, to collaborate on development projects that focus on innovation and alternative solutions.
Third, a multi-party cooperation framework. Increased cooperation between government, private sector and civil society will be facilitated through the establishment of new cooperation platforms for the effective exchange of knowledge and resources. (AT Network)
