ASIATODAY.ID, BALI – The total value of Indonesia’s cooperation commitments with African countries at the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) in 2024 increased significantly to reach US$3.5 billion compared to the first one in 2018 which generated US$568 million.
This was stated by the Director General of Asia, Pacific and Africa, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdul Kadir Jailani at the 2024 HLF MSP and IAF Media Center at BNDCC, Nusa Dua, Bali, on Sunday, September 1 2024.
“The increase in the number of cooperation commitments is clear evidence of the strength of trust between Indonesia and African countries,” said Aspasaf.
Some of the important achievements of IAF II include the signing of a number of Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) and strategic cooperation agreements, namely the development of geothermal energy between PT PLN and TANESCO Tanzania, the Master Agreement regarding health technology transfer cooperation between Biofarma and Atlantic Lifescience Ghana and the Letter of Intent (LOI) between PT Dirgantara Indonesia and AD Trade which facilitates the purchase and maintenance of aircraft by Congo and Senegal.
The 2nd IAF was held in conjunction with the High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (HLM MSP) on 1—3 September 2024.
“IAF II is a follow-up to IAF I which was held in 2018 and will be opened directly by the President of Indonesia,” he said.
IAF II not only brought together more than 1,400 participants consisting of heads of state, ministers, entrepreneurs and academics but also became an opportunity to create real partnerships in the four main sectors of cooperation in the fields of energy, food security, health and minerals.
Apart from the economic cooperation aspect, IAF II is also a platform for reviving the Bandung Spirit which is an important legacy of the 1955 Asia-Africa Conference which became a historical milestone and an important foundation for Indonesia-Africa relations. (AT Network)
