ASIATODAY.ID, BALI – President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) called for global solidarity to take more real and concrete action to overcome the economic slowdown, unemployment rate, inflation and geopolitical tensions that have disrupted global supply chains.
President Jokowi emphasized this when opening the 2nd High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (HLF-MSP) and Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF), in Nusa Dua Bali, Monday, September 2 2024.
According to Jokowi, to achieve more equitable and inclusive development for developing countries, new strategies and tactical steps are needed that focus on achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Joowi emphasized four main points. First, is a focus on achieving the SDGs which must be aligned with national and regional development priorities, including the African Agenda 2063 and supported by multi-stakeholder partnerships.
Second, is Indonesia’s commitment to always take part in global solutions, defend the interests of developing countries, and act as a bridge builder in fighting for equality, justice and solidarity.
“This is a commitment that Indonesia has consistently carried out since the Asia-Africa Conference 69 years ago,” said Jokowi.
Third, Indonesia’s firmness in always opening the door to partnering with the African region, which is considered key to the global development agenda.
The 2024 Indonesia-Africa Forum has recorded business deals worth US$3.5 billion, almost six times the agreement reached at the first forum in 2018.
Lastly is increasing South-South and North-South cooperation to overcome global challenges together.
With the same spirit next year, Indonesia will hold the Platinum Jubilee of the Asian African Conference, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Asian African Summit. (AT Network)
