Prabowo: Philippines is Indonesia’s Strategic Partner in the Defense Sector

ASIATODAY.ID, MANILA – Minister of Defense who is also the elected President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto held an official meeting with Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr., at Malacanang Palace, Manila, Friday, September 20 2024.

During this meeting Prabowo expressed his thanks to President Marcoz for the warm and friendly welcome given to Indonesia.

“Your readiness and hospitality were extraordinary. We appreciate your efforts to accommodate this meeting. “Thank you very much,” said Prabowo as broadcast by the Public Relations Bureau of the Indonesian Ministry of Defense.

Prabowo said that Indonesia considers the Philippines as Indonesia’s strategic partner, especially in the defense sector.

“I am very impressed with your leadership. “Your strategic insight has significantly advanced the Philippines’ position on the global stage, showing real progress in the political, economic and military fields,” said Prabowo.

Indonesia, through Prabowo, also expressed its deepest appreciation to the Philippines for its success in hosting the 13th Defense and Security Cooperation Committee (JDSCC) meeting in Manila in June 2024.

“We are committed to continuing to participate in this annual bilateral forum and hope to host the 14th JDSCC meeting in Indonesia in 2025,” hoped Prabowo.

At the end of the meeting, Prabowo expressed his thanks and appreciation for the constructive discussions that took place today.

Meanwhile, in a statement by the President of the Philippines, Marcos, via his Instagram account, also commented on the ties of friendship with Indonesia.

“Our nations have always had deep ties of friendship, and I am sure this friendship will grow stronger in the years to come,” Marcos said. (AT Network)
