ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy collaborates with the British Council to present “Ekraf Academy 2024” as a capacity building initiative for practitioners and policy makers in the creative economy sector to obtain international certification through short courses.
The Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, explained that currently the 2024 Ekraf Academy has entered the curation stage.
“Selected participants can obtain international certification through a short course, with learning materials available on the British Council website starting October 15 2024,” said Sandiaga in Jakarta, quoted Wednesday, October 9 2024.
Ekraf Academy 2024 is a manifestation of the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy’s commitment to UN Resolution 78/133 which promotes knowledge and skills for creative economy jobs. This is also in line with the National Long Term Development Framework for Creative Economy Policy and Strategy 2025-2045.
Ekraf Academy participants who come from practitioners, creative professionals and policy makers in the creative field will receive training on hybrid creative economy policies under the ASEAN – UK Advancing Creative Economy program. Apart from that, the Asian Creative Digital Economy Youth Summit will also take part in supporting participants to make actionable plans.
So far, Ekraf Academy 2024 is only available for 100 participants. Later, from these 100, 30 will be selected who will have the opportunity to take part in the in person workshop.
Charges d’affaires UK Ambassador to ASEAN, Ben Matthews, said that the Ekraf Academy was very interesting because it was not only related to improving skills, but also building networks and sharing knowledge, allowing participants to gain a global perspective.
“I think this is very interesting and ultimately deepens cultural relations between countries,” said Ben.
According to Country Director Indonesia and Director South East Asia, British Council, Summer Xia, the creative economy sector is very interesting. In England alone, the creative economy sector has contributed around 5.7 percent to the country’s GDP and employs 2.4 million people.
“And I think this figure is even bigger when you listen to Indonesia and all ASEAN member countries. Of course, we must ensure this improvement in a sustainable and inclusive manner. “Therefore, we initiated this program (Ekraf Academy),” said Summer.
On that occasion, Summer appreciated the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy for holding the Tashkent, Uzbekistan edition of WCCE, which highlighted the importance of the creative economy.
“I hope Ekraf Academy can rise to a higher level and then we can report back at the next WCCE,” added Summer. (AT Network)
