APEC Summit: Indonesia Supports Open and Fair Trade

ASIATODAY.ID, LIMA – The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, emphasized Indonesia’s commitment to encouraging open, orderly, but still fair trade at the Leaders Retreat of the 2024 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit which was held in Lima, Peru.

Prabowo made this statement to media crew after attending the APEC Summit series, Saturday, November 16 2024.

According to Prabowo, APEC is a strategic platform to strengthen relations between countries in the Asia Pacific region.

“Yes, I think APEC is a good opportunity, we are continuing a network, a network between leaders in the Pacific. We discuss many issues in which we maintain good trade, which is open but fair. “I think that’s a good opportunity,” said Prabowo.

Prabowo also highlighted the importance of well-organized international trade. He emphasized Indonesia’s position to continue to support orderly, open and fair trade.

“We want orderly trade, which is free but fair,” he stressed.

As one of the countries with the largest economy in the region, Indonesia is committed to continuing to play an active role in ensuring equality in global trade.

At this APEC Summit, President Prabowo held a number of bilateral meetings with leaders of other countries, including discussing steps to strengthen trade relations, increase investment and explore new mutually beneficial cooperation.

The 2024 APEC Summit in Lima is also an important opportunity for Indonesia to fight for inclusive trade that benefits not only large countries, but also small and developing economies in the Asia Pacific region. (AT Network)
