ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian government together with the Kingdom of Norway officially launched Result-Based Contribution-4 (RBC-4) in Jakarta on Tuesday, December 10 2024.
This program is the result of strategic cooperation between Indonesia and Norway as a form of international support for reducing emissions due to deforestation and forest degradation (REDD+) in Indonesia.
The launch was carried out by the Minister of Environment, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni, and the Norwegian Ambassador to Indonesia Rut Kruger Giverin.
In RBC-4, Indonesia received a payment of US$60 million for its achievement in reducing greenhouse gas emissions in 2019–2020.
Previously, the Indonesian Government had received three payments. The first payment of US$56 million was provided for 2016–2017 emissions reductions of 11.2 million tonnes of CO₂e. Meanwhile, the second and third payments of US$100 million were provided simultaneously for 2017–2019 emissions reductions of 20 million tons of CO₂e.
“Today’s event is to launch phase 4 of the Emission Reduction Contribution as a continuation of the good partnership between Indonesia and Norway within the FOLU Net Sink 2030 cooperation framework,” explained Minister Hanif.
“This marks a strong commitment to good cooperation, collaboration and collective action in facing future global environmental challenges,” he continued.
Minister of Forestry Raja Juli said that currently, the Ministry of Forestry’s focus is to display real results from Indonesia’s climate initiatives, especially in maintaining Indonesia’s 2030 FOLU Net Sink target on track.
“This ensures that we are in control and have a decisive influence in achieving Net Zero Emissions by 2060, or even sooner,” said Minister Raja Juli. (AT Network)
