ASIATODAY.ID, BEIJING – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto carried out a whirlwind diplomatic mission in Beijing, China, on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.
Within a single day, he held two high-profile meetings: a bilateral session with Chinese President Xi Jinping and a special meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The visit came right after Prabowo attended the 80th anniversary of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance victory, an event joined by 26 world leaders. His swift moves immediately drew global attention, underscoring Indonesia’s role as a strategic partner amid shifting geopolitical landscapes.

Prabowo and Xi Jinping: Strengthening the Indonesia–China Strategic Partnership
At the Great Hall of the People, President Prabowo expressed his appreciation for Xi Jinping’s invitation and the warm reception extended to the Indonesian delegation.
He also recalled their previous state visit in November 2024, which he described as a milestone in Indonesia–China relations.
“As we mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties, Indonesia reaffirms its commitment to deepen the strategic partnership with China,” Prabowo emphasized.
Among the key issues discussed was the ambitious giant sea wall project planned for Java’s northern coast, expected to become a monumental step in coastal resilience and climate adaptation.
Special Meeting with Vladimir Putin: Expanding Economic Cooperation
President Prabowo also seized the moment in Beijing to hold a direct meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In their warm discussion, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhance cooperation, particularly in economy, trade, and strategic investment sectors.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya noted that Prabowo’s back-to-back meetings with Xi and Putin highlighted Indonesia’s determination to safeguard ongoing investments and expand new economic opportunities with both powers.
A One-Day Mission: Depart in the Morning, Back by Night
Remarkably, Prabowo’s Beijing trip was carried out in less than 24 hours. After completing all his scheduled engagements, he immediately flew back to Jakarta, arriving the same evening.
“In under a day, the President left Indonesia, met world leaders, and returned home the same night,” Cabinet Secretary Teddy confirmed. (AT Network)
