ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian government is taking a firm stance against 200 major tax evaders with total arrears reaching IDR 60 trillion (approx. USD 3.8 billion).
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa confirmed that these tax delinquents will be forced to settle their obligations within one week.
“As I said yesterday, there are IDR 60 trillion worth of unpaid taxes, with 200 delinquents involved, and all of these cases are final and binding. Within a week, I will force them to pay,” Purbaya stated during a session at the House of Representatives (DPR RI) on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
200 Names Already on the Government’s List
The Finance Minister revealed that the government has already compiled a list of companies and individuals involved. All of these tax disputes have reached final court rulings (inkrah), leaving no room for further legal maneuvering.
“We already have the list of 200 major tax delinquents, all of which are final cases. We will pursue and execute them, with a total value of around IDR 50–60 trillion. They won’t be able to escape,” he said at the APBN KiTa Press Conference at the Ministry of Finance headquarters in Central Jakarta, Monday, September 22, 2025.
Ensuring Fair Tax Justice
According to Purbaya, this tough measure is necessary to uphold tax justice for citizens who have been faithfully paying their dues. The government is committed to protecting compliant taxpayers from any harassment.
“To be clear, we are applying fair treatment. If you have paid your taxes, you will not be disturbed. And there will be no more cases of tax officials extorting citizens,” he emphasized.
Purbaya also pledged to establish a special complaint channel for taxpayers who may face extortion attempts by rogue tax officials. “I will open a dedicated channel for that,” he added.
Nationwide Tax Cleanup to Continue in 2026
The Finance Minister stressed that after targeting the 200 major tax evaders in 2025, the government will continue its crackdown in 2026 to further optimize state revenue.
“This is only the first stage. Next year, we will conduct another sweep to ensure tax collection becomes more effective,” Purbaya affirmed.
This initiative underlines the government’s commitment to strengthening state revenue collection while improving tax governance through greater transparency and fairness. (AT Network)
