ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA — President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed Indonesia’s strong commitment to supporting global peace efforts, particularly in the Middle East.
The President made this statement upon returning from the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit in the Arab Republic of Egypt, speaking to the press at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
“I have just arrived from Egypt, from Sharm El-Sheikh, where many world leaders witnessed the signing of the framework for a ceasefire agreement that will lead toward comprehensive peace,” President Prabowo said.
The President described the signing as an important first step toward achieving sustainable peace in the Middle East.
He welcomed recent positive developments, including the implementation of a ceasefire and plans for the gradual withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip.
“What matters most is that the ceasefire is already in place. The Israeli forces will soon begin their withdrawal, following the agreed stages. Hostages have also been released,” he added.
Indonesia’s Steadfast Support for Palestine
President Prabowo also expressed appreciation for the international community’s trust in involving Indonesia in major peace efforts. He emphasized Indonesia’s consistent stance in defending justice, humanity, and the independence of Palestine.
“This has always been our national commitment. For decades, I have personally stood for Palestine—since I was young. Indonesia will continue to support the independence of the Palestinian people,” he affirmed.
Beyond diplomatic support, Indonesia continues to demonstrate tangible humanitarian commitment by sending aid to conflict areas.
“We have sent aid, ships, and Hercules aircraft many times. The people of Palestine and the Middle East can see Indonesia’s commitment. We also sent substantial food assistance—thousands of tons of rice—and we remain fully committed to supporting this cause,” the President stated.
Furthermore, President Prabowo declared Indonesia’s readiness to contribute to regional stability and security, including through the possible deployment of peacekeeping forces if required.
“I was asked by key mediators—such as the United States, Turkey, Qatar, and Egypt—about Indonesia’s readiness. We told them: Indonesia is ready,” he concluded.
President Prabowo’s statement underscores Indonesia’s role as a consistent advocate of global peace, in line with the Preamble of the 1945 Constitution, which calls upon the nation to participate in establishing a world order based on freedom, lasting peace, and social justice. (AT Network)
