ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA — The first year of the administration of President Prabowo Subianto, marks a pivotal era in strengthening Indonesia’s national defense capability. 1. Strengthening national unity and the total defense system,

3. Developing the domestic defense industry, and

4. Expanding strategic partnerships and defense diplomacy.

Strengthening the Total Defense System

The first focus has been realized through the establishment of 100 Territorial Development Battalions and the strengthening of the reserve components within an adaptive and inclusive total defense framework. The Ministry of Defense has also conducted social and medical service missions in Papua, working closely with local governments and relevant stakeholders to reinforce national unity and uphold sovereignty across remote and strategic regions.

Modernizing Defense Capabilities

The second priority focuses on enhancing Indonesia’s military strength through the implementation of the Perisai Trisula Nusantara Strategy. The modernization of defense assets has positioned Indonesia as a dominant military force in Southeast Asia. Key achievements include the commissioning of KRI Brawijaya-320, the largest frigate in Southeast Asia, the acquisition of H225M helicopters, and the introduction of the MV3-EV Pandu tactical electric vehicle — a symbol of Indonesia’s move toward advanced, sustainable defense technologies.

Advancing the Domestic Defense Industry

The third focus strengthens Indonesia’s domestic defense industry through initiatives such as the Indo Defence Expo & Forum 2025. This platform has facilitated multiple technology transfer and co-production agreements with global defense partners, engaging both state-owned and private defense enterprises. These collaborations have accelerated Indonesia’s self-reliance and competitiveness in the international defense sector.

Expanding Defense Diplomacy and Global Engagement

On the diplomatic front, Indonesia has deepened its strategic defense partnerships through participation in major global events such as India’s Republic Day Parade and Bastille Day 2025 in France. The Ministry of Defense has also carried out humanitarian and medical assistance programs in friendly nations like Papua New Guinea, alongside joint military exercises and regional defense cooperation.

Globally, President Prabowo has demonstrated active leadership in promoting peace, exemplified by Indonesia’s participation in the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit in Egypt.

Through these strategic actions, the Prabowo-Gibran administration has laid a strong foundation for a self-reliant and resilient national defense, ensuring the protection of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the safety of the Indonesian people.

As Indonesia moves toward the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045, the nation stands increasingly respected and influential, not only in Southeast Asia but on the global stage. (AT Network)
