Madinah Leads Saudi Arabia in Hotel Occupancy for 2025

Hotels in Madinah, Saudi Arabia. Special

ASIATODAY.ID, MADINAH – The hospitality industry in Madinah continues to shine as one of Saudi Arabia’s top tourism destinations. According to a recent economic report from the Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah Chamber, October 21, 2025, the holy city recorded the highest hotel occupancy rate in the Kingdom during the first half of 2025.

The report revealed that Madinah’s hotel occupancy reached 74.7%, outperforming all other regions in Saudi Arabia. The average daily room rate stood at SAR 538, while revenue per available room (RevPAR) reached SAR 402 — clear indicators of strong demand and growth in the city’s hospitality sector.

Following Madinah, Jeddah recorded an occupancy rate of 59.7%, and Riyadh came in third with 58.3%, reflecting the continued expansion of tourism and business travel across the Kingdom.

By mid-2025, the Madinah Region hosted 523 licensed hospitality facilities, including 361 hotels and 95 serviced apartments located primarily within the city. The total number of licensed rooms reached 64,569, with hotels representing 94% of the total — positioning Madinah as the second-largest city in Saudi Arabia after Makkah in terms of available hotel rooms.

Tourism experts attribute this performance to the city’s growing role as a spiritual and cultural hub, as well as ongoing investments in tourism infrastructure under Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the economy and enhance the visitor experience. (SPA)
