In his statement at the summit, President Prabowo underscored the strategic importance of the ASEAN–US partnership in building a peaceful, open, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.
“The United States has long been—and must continue to be—a partner for growth and a partner for peace in the Indo-Pacific. As a growth partner, US engagement has helped build a stronger and more connected ASEAN,” the President stated.
President Prabowo highlighted that the partnership with the United States has significantly strengthened ASEAN’s integration and competitiveness. He further emphasized that ASEAN’s economic success stands as tangible proof of growth driven by openness and collaboration.
“With a strong US partnership, ASEAN has become the world’s fifth-largest economy, creating jobs for more than 625,000 American workers through annual exports worth USD 122 billion,” he noted.
Amid an increasingly dynamic geopolitical landscape, President Prabowo also reaffirmed the need for an open, predictable, and inclusive Indo-Pacific for all nations. He called for the moral courage of the international community in addressing the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Palestine.
“Indonesia appreciates the outcome of the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit and your leadership, Mr. President, in advancing a credible roadmap toward lasting peace. Our task now is implementation—turning words into concrete action,” he affirmed.
Concluding his remarks, President Prabowo reiterated Indonesia’s commitment to support humanitarian and reconstruction efforts in Gaza, including potential participation in a multinational stabilization mission.
He further stated that Indonesia is prepared to deploy peacekeeping forces to areas in need of protection and stability.
“Let us choose to stand on the right side of history. Let ASEAN and the United States be partners for peace—building lasting harmony, fostering constructive cooperation, and strengthening partnerships that deliver real benefits for our peoples and the world,” he concluded. (AT Network)
