ASIATODAY.ID, MADINAH – The AlMadinah AlMunawarah Chamber has affirmed Madinah’s status as a premier regional and global tourism destination.
According to the Chamber’s latest report, 73.7% of visitors are attracted by Madinah’s unique combination of religious significance and historical ties to the Prophet Muhammad.
The report ranked Madinah seventh in the global tourism performance index among the top 100 destinations worldwide, highlighting the city’s rising international prominence.
Other key destinations in the region also showed strong growth:
AlUla Governorate drew 47.2% of international tourists, attracted by its cultural events, historical sites, and UNESCO World Heritage landmarks.
Yanbu Governorate became a favorite for 14.1% of domestic tourists, offering beaches, marine activities, and family-friendly recreational facilities.
The Chamber emphasized that these figures reflect the rapid expansion of tourism across the Madinah Region, driven by integrated national efforts to enhance the Kingdom’s global tourism profile in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
Riyadh Emerges as a Global Tourism Hub
The Saudi capital continues to strengthen its position as a global tourism and entertainment hub. This fall, Riyadh welcomed visitors from across the Kingdom and internationally, offering a blend of tradition and modernity through diverse cultural, artistic, and sporting experiences.
Key highlights include:
Over 19 million visitors in the past year, reflecting Riyadh’s growing appeal.
Major events and entertainment seasons, such as Diriyah Season, featuring historic neighborhoods, cultural programs, and outdoor activities.
Saudi Winter 2025 program, extending through Q1 2026, with events across Riyadh, Diriyah, Jeddah, AlUla, the Red Sea, and the Eastern Region.
Infrastructure and service improvements, including expanded e-visa access, upgraded entertainment destinations, and public-private sector collaboration for sustainable tourism.
Khalid Albaker, CEO of the Quality of Life Program Center, noted that entertainment seasons, including Riyadh and Jeddah seasons, serve as key indicators of development in culture, sports, and tourism, supporting the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals.
In 2024 alone, the program hosted over 115 million visitors nationwide, launched investment accelerators, and expanded entertainment destinations by 169% beyond targets.
Riyadh’s strategy focuses on sustainable tourism, quality investments, and enhancing economic and creative opportunities, positioning the capital as a vibrant hub for both local and international visitors. (SPA)
