Indonesia Carries a Special Mission to WEF Davos

ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto departed for the United Kingdom and Switzerland on Sunday, January 18, 2026, on a high-level diplomatic and economic mission aimed at strengthening Indonesia’s global standing, including participation in the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.

The visit underscores Indonesia’s push to play a more assertive role in global economic and geopolitical affairs, while deepening strategic partnerships with key international players.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said President Prabowo departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, to attend a series of strategic meetings in Europe.

“On Sunday afternoon, January 18, 2026, President Prabowo Subianto departed for the United Kingdom and Switzerland to attend several strategic engagements,” Teddy said in a written statement.

Meeting Indonesian Lawmakers Before Departure

Prior to his flight to London, President Prabowo held a closed-door meeting with Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Prof. Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, to discuss recent strategic developments and briefings.

“At Halim, President Prabowo met with Deputy Speaker Prof. Sufmi Dasco Ahmad before continuing his journey to London,” the Cabinet Secretary added.

High-Level Diplomacy in London

In London, President Prabowo is scheduled to meet UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to discuss enhanced strategic cooperation between Indonesia and the United Kingdom, including economic, investment, and global policy issues.

The President will also hold an audience with King Charles III, with a key focus on environmental conservation and sustainability, including elephant conservation initiatives, alongside global philanthropic figures.

“President Prabowo will meet King Charles III to discuss environmental protection and conservation, including elephant conservation,” Teddy said.

Indonesia Takes the Stage at Davos

Following his UK visit, President Prabowo will travel to Davos, Switzerland, to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF).

He is scheduled to deliver a keynote address before global leaders and top executives.

In addition, President Prabowo will engage in strategic dialogues with chief executives of leading multinational corporations, reinforcing Indonesia’s message as an emerging economic powerhouse and reliable global partner.

“President Prabowo will also hold strategic dialogues with CEOs of leading international companies,” Teddy concluded.

The visit highlights Indonesia’s active and increasingly confident role on the world stage, as President Prabowo seeks to secure national interests amid global economic uncertainty and shifting geopolitical dynamics. (AT Network)
