ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian Government, through the Ministry of Environment/Environmental Control Agency (KLH/BPLH), has officially designated PT Ceria Nugraha Indotama (Ceria Corp) as one of the recipients of the PROPER Green (Beyond Compliance) rating for the 2024-2025 assessment period. The recognition underscores the company’s environmental performance, which has exceeded regulatory compliance standards.
The designation forms part of this year’s PROPER evaluation, which involved 5,476 participating companies, marking a 22 percent increase compared to the previous period. The growing number of participants reflects a strengthening commitment among businesses to transparency and accountability in environmental performance.
Minister of Environment and Head of BPLH, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, emphasized that PROPER has evolved beyond a mere administrative compliance tool into a key driver of industrial transformation toward sustainable practices.

“PROPER encourages companies not only to comply, but to go beyond compliance through innovation, resource efficiency, and tangible contributions to society,” he stated in Jakarta on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
Beyond Compliance Recognition Expands
In this year’s assessment, 282 companies achieved the beyond compliance category, comprising 39 Gold-rated and 243 Green-rated companies, including Ceria. Meanwhile, the majority of participants remain in the Blue category, with some still rated Red and Black.
Minister Hanif reaffirmed that the government will continue to push companies to enhance their environmental performance, while also enforcing regulations for those that fail to meet standards.
“Environmental protection is an obligation that must be fulfilled by all business actors,” he stressed.
Ceria’s Transformation from Blue to Green
For Ceria Corp, this achievement marks a significant milestone. After maintaining a Blue rating for six consecutive years (2018–2023), the company has now advanced to the Green rating, signaling a major transformation in its environmental management practices.
President Director Abdul Haris Tatang stated that the accomplishment reflects a collective commitment across the organization to balance operational activities with environmental sustainability.
“This achievement serves as a foundation for continuously improving performance and delivering broader contributions to the environment and society,” he said.
Ceria has implemented a range of sustainability initiatives, including: Energy and water efficiency improvements, Greenhouse gas emissions reduction, Circular economy-based waste management and Biodiversity protection programs.
Head of Mining Engineering, Alpi Cekdin, added that the company consistently integrates Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) principles across all operations through its Mining Safety Management System (SMKP).

PROPER Driving National Industrial Transformation
Chairman of the PROPER Advisory Board, Sudharto P. Hadi, explained that PROPER’s evaluation standards continue to evolve through the adoption of a life cycle assessment (LCA) approach, which measures environmental impacts comprehensively from upstream to downstream.
Throughout the assessment period, participating companies generated 1,806 environmental and social innovations, contributing to resource efficiency, emissions reduction, circular economy development, and biodiversity protection.
Additionally, corporate community empowerment programs reached a total value of approximately IDR 1.01 trillion, demonstrating that sustainability practices deliver tangible benefits to local communities while supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The designation of Ceria as a 2024–2025 PROPER Green award recipient further highlights Indonesia’s environmental policy shift—from compliance-based regulation toward systemic transformation of the business sector.
Through PROPER, environmental performance is now becoming an integral part of corporate strategy and a key pillar in enhancing the global competitiveness of Indonesia’s industries. (AT Network)
