ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Two companies from Russia, which operate in the smart city sector, have submitted letters of intent (LoI) to the Archipelago Capital Authority (OIKN) in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan.

The letter of intent is the first step for Russian companies to invest and participate in the development of the Indonesian capital.

This LoI was handed over directly to the Director of Investment and Ease of Doing Business at OIKN, Indra Yuwana and witnessed by the Deputy Head of Indonesian Representatives for the Russian Federation and Belarus, Berlian Helmy.

“The Indonesian Embassy in Moscow continues to strive for companies from Russia and Belarus to take part in the development of the archipelago,” said Berlian, quoted on Tuesday, December 5 2023.

Previously, this delegation from Russia had made a field visit to the archipelago and witnessed firsthand development which already looked very progressive. A number of viewing points include zero point, viewing tower, camping site, as well as core government buildings, namely the state palace and offices of ministries and institutions.

Apart from field inspections, the delegation also held meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Investment. During the meeting, the two companies again expressed their seriousness in investing in Indonesia.

The series of visits closed with the participation of the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow and the Russian delegation at the “Moscow-Jakarta: The Future of Cities” business forum initiated by the Moscow City Government. The forum aims to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries by focusing on exchange best practices, especially how to invest in Indonesia.

The forum was attended by more than 100 participants from business circles from Russia and Indonesia. It is hoped that the forum can become a forum for expanding business networks between the two countries and as a catalyst for business-to-business contact. (AT Network)
