ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Batam City, Indonesia and Daegu City, South Korea have agreed to collaborate in water management.

The Batam Business Agency (BP Batam) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Daegu City, Thursday, December 7 2023 during the World Water Cities Forum 2023, which was organized by the Daegu City government.

Purwiyanto enthusiastically welcomed this collaboration with the Daegu City government. He explained that the MoU with the Daegu City government includes cooperation in terms of exchanging information and technology for urban drinking water management.

With this collaboration, it is hoped that the Daegu City government will provide experience to BP Batam in terms of water management. Because Daegu City, which is the 4th largest metropolitan city in South Korea, is also called the city of water.

Daegu City is the center of water technology development in South Korea, so of course Daegu City has good experience in water management.

“This is needed by Batam City as an investment destination in Indonesia. “So, supplying water with the latest technology that is effective and efficient, as well as environmentally friendly, will be increasingly needed,” he said, quoted Tuesday, December 12 2023.

Purwiyanto added that this collaboration with Daegu City is an effort to meet the needs of water and drinking water services for the people of Batam City, especially by utilizing new technology such as Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) or sea water distillation, membrane technology and other technologies.

“It is hoped that the use of new water sources other than rainwater can be utilized according to the “Batam Integrated Total Water Management” program,” he added. (AT Network)
