ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is also supporting the Indonesian Capital City (IKN) development project in North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan.

ADB Director in Indonesia, Jiro Tominaga, said that so far ADB has provided technical assistance for IKN development worth $2.4 million through various scopes of cooperation.

“Assistance worth $2.4 million is distributed through various resources managed by ADB and is focused on three pillars,” said Jiro, in the “ADB End of Year Press Briefing in Indonesia”, at the ADB office, Jakarta, Thursday, December 14 2023.

According to Jiro, the three pillars of cooperation are planning and design, limiting or minimizing impacts and mobilizing financing.

“In planning and design, ADB ensures that land use and spatial planning supports IKN’s vision of becoming a smart and sustainable forest city and identifies potential quick win efforts in achieving livability for its residents,” explained Jiro.

Jiro said that ADB is also making efforts to minimize the negative impacts of IKN development with a basic environmental and social survey approach.

Regarding financing mobilization, ADB is developing policies and frameworks for investment in the new capital city.

Furthermore, Jiro said that ADB is one of the development partners of the Indonesian Government which has long overseen the development of IKN as a new sustainable capital city.

“In creating livable cities, ADB is one of the first development partners that continues to support the Indonesian Government to achieve the vision of Nusantara, the new capital, as a smart and sustainable forest city, as well as livable and loved by its residents,” stressed Jiro. (AT Network)
