ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Saudi Tourism Authority (STA) popularized the tourist attraction in Saudi Arabia during an exhibition to Indonesia at the Indonesian Travel Agent Association (Astindo) event entitled “Astindo Travel Fair 2024” in Tangerang, Banten, Thursday, February 29 to Sunday , March 3, 2024.
“Saudi Arabia offers a variety of world-class tourism experiences to answer the preferences of every Indonesian tourist, starting from 10,000 archaeological sites, seven UNESCO World Heritage sites, luxury tourist destinations, to the Formula 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix 2024 which will be held this winter,” wrote STA representative, Shazlin Ahmad, in a press release quoted in Jakarta, Thursday, March 7 2024.
By 2023, Saudi will have received more than 100 million global tourist visits. This number increased by 156 percent compared to 2019, when the “Visit Saudi 2030” program was initiated.
Saudi Arabia has also gained recognition as one of the fastest growing tourist destinations in the world, as reported by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in its Barometer 2024 report.
To visit Saudi Arabia for Indonesian people, the application is not only for an Umrah visa, but also for a holiday, transit or “visa on arrival” visa.
Indonesian passport holders who have a UK or Schengen visit visa are also entitled to a “visa on arrival” or “visit visa on arrival” in Saudi Arabia.
In addition, the newly launched 96-hour transit visa allows visitors traveling on Saudia and Flynas airlines to enjoy Saudi Arabia for up to 96 hours before continuing their journey.
Indonesians can apply for an Umrah visa through a certified Umrah travel agent in Indonesia or apply for a holiday visa through the “Visa Facilitating Services (VFS) Tasheer” office in Indonesia.
The visa is valid for 90 days and tourists with one of these visas (holiday visa or Umrah visa) can visit all of Saudi Arabia, not just limited to Jeddah, Mecca and Medina.
Furthermore, Saudi Arabia’s aviation sector plays a role as a key player and gateway to exploring the country’s cultural riches.
Airline capacity, especially the three main airlines – Saudia, Lion Air and Garuda Indonesia, has increased by more than 20 percent from 2019 to 2023. Flight frequencies will continue to be increased to meet increasing demand. (AT Network)
