5 Volcanoes in Indonesia are on Alert Status, 17 are Alert, and 46 are Normal

ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The National Command Post for the Indonesian Energy and Mineral Resources Sector regularly monitors the status of geological disasters that occur throughout Indonesia.

For this need, the Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has formed a Geological Disaster Emergency Response Team, such as a volcano that will respond quickly to every geological disaster that occurs and be on standby within 24 hours.

“The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has formed a Geological Disaster Emergency Response Team which will respond quickly to every disaster that occurs and be on standby within 24 hours, and increase careful volcanic monitoring at several active volcanoes,” said the Head of the Communications Bureau, Public Information Services , and Cooperation, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in Jakarta, Sunday, April 7 2024.

The Geological Disaster Emergency Response Team, apart from monitoring volcanoes, also monitors landslide movements, disseminates information on areas prone to landslides, including homecoming routes, to the Regional Government and related agencies.

Based on the latest monitoring results, 5 volcanoes were observed in alert status, namely: Mount Anak Krakatau, Mount Ili Lewotolok, Mount Marapi, Mount Merapi and Mount Semeru.

Meanwhile there are 17 volcanoes in alert status, namely Mount Awu, Mount Banda Api, Mount Bromo, Mount Dempo, Mount Dukono, Mount Gamalama, Mount Ibu, Mount Karangetang, Mount Kerinci, Mount Lewotobi LakiLaki, Mount Lokon, Mount Raung, Mount Rinjani, Mount Sangeangapi, Mount Sinabung, Mount Slamet, and Mount Soputan.

Then, there are 46 volcanoes with normal status, namely Mount Agung, Ambang, Anak Ranakah, Arjuno Welirang, Batur, Batutara, Bur Ni Telong, Ciremai, Colo, Dieng, Ebulobo, Egon, Galunggung, Gamkonora, Gede, Guntur, Ijen, Ile Werung , Ili Boleng, Inelika, Inierie, Iya, Kaba, Kelimutu, Kelud, Kie Besi, Lamongan, Lereboleng, Mahawu, Papandayan, Peut Sague, Raung, Rokatenda, Ruang, Salak, Seulawah Agam, Sirung, Sorikmarapi, Sumbing, Sundoro, Talang , Tambora, Tandikat, Tangkoko, Tangkuban Parahu, Wurlali.

“The entire community can monitor the development of activity of all volcanoes in Indonesia through the official government application/website and use the geological disaster mitigation portal to see the potential dangers around them,” said Agus.

Landslide Danger

Agus revealed that for land movement disasters in the form of landslides, PVMBG noted that there had been two land movements in the form of landslides at Permata Puri Housing and RT 8/RW 4, Jabungan, Banyumanik District, Semarang City, Central Java Province.

“On April 4 2024, a landslide disaster occurred in Temanggung Hamlet, Kuripan Village, Watumalang District, Wonosobo Regency, Central Java Province,” said Agus.

The Emergency Response Team also noted that an earthquake occurred on April 6 2024 at 15:24:31 WIB with a magnitude of 5.2 at a depth of 101 km.

“The earthquake shaking that was felt as far as Wamena with intensity II MMI, there were no reports of casualties or damage to buildings,” concluded Agus. (ATN)
