According to Luhut, the 10th World Water Forum will also encourage follow-up on Indonesia’s initiative at the G20 in 2022, namely the G20 Bali Global Blended Finance Alliance (GBFA).

Meanwhile, GBFA is an initiative for financial support for climate action, including overcoming the current water crisis in the world.

“We will launch the GBFA Secretariat and sign LOL with several countries as Founding Members,” he said.

Apart from that, there are three proposals from Indonesia in the Ministerial Declaration which will be submitted to the United Nations, including Integrated water resources management on small islands, a Center of excellence on water and climate resilience, and the declaration of World Lake Day.

In detail, Luhut said that the World Water Forum would be attended by 13,448 people from 148 countries. Meanwhile, the VVIP delegation consisted of 8 heads of state including President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and government representatives, 3 special envoys and 38 ministers.

“There are also members of parliament from various countries, regional representatives, associations, private companies and youth,” said Luhut.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Minister of Public Works and Public Housing, Basuki Hadimuljo, said that the ministerial meeting at the 10th World Water Forum in Bali would be attended by 103 ministers from 132 countries.

As of May 17 2024, 13,000 people had registered for this activity formally.

“However, all of this is still moving, because there are still 99 countries that have not confirmed it,” said Basuki.

The World Water Forum is the largest international meeting to discuss and formulate world water and sanitation management policies. This forum has been held 9 times, and the 10th meeting will be held in Bali, Indonesia from 18 May to 25 May 2024.

There are four things that will be the focus of discussion at the 10th World Water Forum in Bali, namely water conservation, clean water and sanitation, food and energy security, and mitigation of natural disasters. (ATN)
