ASIATODAY.ID, AMBON – The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is encouraging an increase in the volume of exports of Maluku fishery products by strengthening the capacity of the fisheries sector and facilitating meetings between Japanese importers and investors and Maluku business actors on Thursday, June 13 2024.
“I will support increasing Maluku tuna exports to Japan,” said Kiyoshi Kimura, CEO of Sushi Zanmai Japan in a business meeting with one of the Maluku fish exporters, PT. Ocean Treasures.
Sushi Zanmai is ready to form a joint venture to strengthen fisheries technology in Indonesia by sending fish collection vessels with a capacity of 19 tonnes to 300 tonnes. It is hoped that this ship can help make fishing more effective and efficient.
“We are also ready to accept fisheries workers from Indonesia for training,” continued Kimura.
Robert Tjoanda, Director of PT. Harta Samudera hopes that technological support from Japan will increase the quality and quantity of deep sea tuna catches in order to open wider market access.
“We are very open to collaborating with Japan to optimize the tuna fish potential which is still very large in Maluku,” said Robert.
The business meeting between Sushi Zanmai and PT Harta Samudra was part of a sustainable fisheries program organized by participants of the 76th Batch of the Foreign Service School.
Head of the Education and Training Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mohammad K. Koba emphasized that Indonesian diplomats must understand the technicalities of the field to oversee economic diplomacy to completion.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is ready to oversee the realization of the business agreement that Sushi Zanmai has entered into in Maluku to increase the volume of fish exports to the East Asian market,” said Koba. (AT Network)
