ASIATODAY.ID, PERU – The Indonesian Cultural Festival will be held at Parque Kennedy, Miraflores, Lima, Peru, on September 8 2024.
The cultural festival as part of the Indonesia – Latin America and the Caribbean Business Forum (INA-LAC) 2024 was initiated by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Indonesian Embassy in Lima.
This festival was lively and enlivened by various groups of people in the city of Lima, Peru. The visitors were enthusiastic about watching various Indonesian arts and cultural performances, starting from traditional dances (Saman Dance, Aceh Ratoeh Jaroe Dance, Jejer Banguwangi Dance, Bajidor Kahot Dance and Bhinneka Dance) performed by the Ayodya Pala Group, regional songs to the Indonesian clothing parade.
Famous ethnic musician from Bali, Balawan and his group specially presented a number of regional songs, such as Jali-Jali and Bengawan Solo, as well as giving demonstrations on how to play Balinese Gamelan and Kotekan.
The Indonesian Cultural Festival was officially opened by the Indonesian Ambassador to Peru, Ricky Suhendar, together with the Director General for America and Europe at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Umar Hadi. A number of public figures and high-ranking Peruvian officials, including foreign diplomatic circles, also attended this Festival, including the Mayor of Miraflores, Carlos Canales, Director General of Asia and Oceania of the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassadors of friendly countries, as well as Miss Peru and Miss World Peru 2024, who was present specifically to enliven the event.
“This Indonesian Cultural Festival is part of the activities of the Indonesia-Latin America and the Caribbean (INALAC) Business Forum 2024 in Peru, especially to promote Indonesian culture and tourism,” said Ambassador Ricky Suhendar.
“We want to bring the Indonesian atmosphere closer to the Peruvian people. Arts and culture are a very effective bridge in bringing the Indonesian and Peruvian people closer together. Our hope is that in the future, more and more Peruvian citizens will visit various tourist destinations in Indonesia,” he stressed. Ricky.
The director general of Asia and Oceania of the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Fernando Julio Quiros Campos, who was present at the opening of the Festival emphasized that the Indonesian Cultural and Culinary Festival in Lima was a symbol and proof of the strong brotherhood between Indonesia and Peru.
“I am also happy that Peru was chosen as the first place to hold the INALAC Business Forum outside Indonesia,” he said.
During the event, one of the Lima residents who attended, Claudio, expressed the impression that the Indonesian Cultural Festival held in Lima was very unique and interesting.
“I was impressed by the richness of Indonesian cultural treasures,” he said.
Another visitor, Hector Velez, who works as a pilot and has visited Indonesia twice, also expressed his appreciation.
“The dancing was good. I was reminded of Indonesia,” he said.
At the end of the event, Ambassador Ricky Suhendar handed over a miniature Rumah Gadang to the Mayor of Miraflores, Carlos Canales. The series of Indonesian Cultural Festivals closed with the song Gemu Fa Mi Re from Maumere, East Nusa Tenggara and invited visitors to dance together. (AT Network)
