ASIATODAY.ID, LIMA – The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto and the President of the Republic of Peru, Dina Boluarte agreed to expand bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the cultural and economic fields. This agreement was conveyed at a meeting of the two heads of state, Thursday, November 14 2024, at the Peruvian Government Palace.
During the meeting, the two countries’ leaders also agreed to expand cooperation in the cultural and economic fields. President Prabowo revealed that Indonesia would open market access for products from Peru.
“We hope to build strong bilateral relations as well as in the context of multilateral relations. “Indonesia as part of ASEAN will continue to support Peru’s participation in ASEAN,” said President Prabowo.

In addition, both countries are committed to completing the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) within the next six months.
President Prabowo is optimistic that the agreement can be signed during President Boluarte’s visit to Indonesia with his delegation.
The meeting also included discussions regarding cooperation in eradicating narcotics as well as the similarities in views of the two countries in the international arena. As countries bordering the Pacific Ocean, both Indonesia and Peru have an interest in maintaining peace and stability in the Pacific region.
“We are a Pacific country. “We have an interest in peace and stability in the Pacific region,” said President Prabowo.
Grand Cross
During his official visit to Peru, President Prabowo was awarded the highest honor “Grand Cross of the Order of the Sun of Peru” by the Peruvian Government. The award was given in an official ceremony at the Government Palace, which was handed over directly by Peruvian President Dina Boluarte and witnessed by high-ranking local officials.
The “El Sol del Perú” award, which was originally called the “Orden del Sol”, is known as the highest honor in Peru, and is awarded as a form of recognition for extraordinary services rendered to the country and nation of Peru. This award, with the highest level of Grand Cross, is usually given to Heads of State from friendly countries or international figures whose contributions are universally recognized. This award symbolizes the deep friendship and respect between Indonesia and Peru.
As a Grand Cross, President Prabowo received a Grand Necklace with a Diamond Circle. This honorary emblem is specially designed with an 80 mm diameter sun-shaped plate that reflects the glory of “El Sol del Perú.”
In the center of the coat of arms, there is a plate with a relief of the Peruvian national coat of arms, surrounded by red and white enamel with the words “El Sol del Perú” and the year of Peru’s independence, “1821,” to commemorate the history of the Peruvian nation’s independence. This set is completed with green palm and laurel branches, symbolizing the peace and glory of the Peruvian nation.
Responding to the award, President Prabowo expressed his gratitude for the honor given by the Peruvian Government. He also emphasized Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields with Peru, and hoped for stronger relations in the future.
