Indonesian Students Win International Diplomacy Competition in Thailand

ASIATODAY.ID, BANGKOK – High School (SMA) students from Bogor City, West Java, Indonesia succeeded in becoming champions in the international diplomacy competition entitled Model United Nations (MUN) 15th Offline Conference, Thailand, on November 15 2024.

“Commitment to dialogue and exchanging ideas is a noble cultural value of the Indonesian nation which must be reflected in international forums like this,” said Adli Firlian Ilmi, one of the participants representing Indonesia from SMA Negeri 3 Bogor City who received an award in the 15th MUN competition. The 15th MUN Offline Conference was witnessed directly by several diplomats from various countries, especially the Political Chancellor of the Royal Swedish Embassy, ​​Lina Eidmark, where she was a speaker at the 15th MUN session at the Ram Garden Hotel Bangkok, Thailand.

Lina Edimark explained to 700 participants from 28 different countries around the world how important the role of the younger generation is to be competent in diplomacy in all aspects.

According to him, diplomacy is an effective way to persuade an idea. Like climate change and other humanitarian issues.

At the end of his speech, he wished the best for all participants who took part in MUN activities in Thailand to excel and be active in exchanging ideas with all participants, so as to create an inclusive competition.

Meanwhile, the MUN 15th Offline Conference, Thailand was attended by students from various ages and educational backgrounds from all over the world. They work together to achieve achievements and hone their diplomatic methods for the future.

In his short interview, the high school student who is familiarly called Adli hopes that in the future many of Indonesia’s young generation will be able to surpass in his footsteps.

“Participating in international events is not only something to be proud of, it also hones our personality to be confident and able to exchange ideas with others, especially exchanging solutions to social problems faced by a country and even communities within that country,” he added.

According to him, diplomacy is the basis for Indonesia’s development. This is reflected by one of the Indonesian national figures, H. Agus Salim, who at a time when Indonesia needed de jure recognition from world countries, he succeeded in convincing a number of countries to recognize Indonesia as a sovereign country in the world.

“It is appropriate for many of Indonesia’s young generation to take this spirit as an effort to develop Indonesia, both domestically and internationally,” he said. (AT Network)
