ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian government through the Ministry of Industry is starting to accelerate the implementation of green industrial policies. This step is a form of commitment towards decarbonization and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the industrial sector. Apart from that, it is also to keep up with developments in world trends that have led to green products and the implementation of sustainable economic practices.

“The concept of green industry is the efficient use of resources in a sustainable manner in the production process, to preserve the environment and have a positive impact on society,” said Head of the Standardization and Industrial Services Policy Agency, Ministry of Industry, Andi Rizaldi in his statement in Jakarta, quoted on Saturday, December 14, 2024.

Green industry can be implemented starting from increasing resource efficiency, creating green products with environmentally friendly raw materials, utilizing clean energy, reducing emissions and controlling B3 waste, using sustainable standards, and implementing a circular economy.

“Apart from that, green industry audits also play an important role in efforts to transform the manufacturing sector towards a sustainable economy. “The certification and audit aims to assess the industry’s conformity to the Green Industry Standard, which is designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase resource efficiency,” he said.

One of the technical implementation units under the Standardization and Industrial Services Policy Agency, Ministry of Industry, namely the Makassar Center for Standardization and Industrial Services for Plantation Products, Metallic Minerals and Maritime Products, has carried out a green industry certification audit of PT. Conch North Sulawesi Cement in Solog Village, Bolaang Mongondow Regency, North Sulawesi Province on 5-6 November 2024.

This audit activity is part of the company’s commitment to support sustainable development and support the government’s efforts to encourage the implementation of green industry principles in the manufacturing sector, especially in the cement industry.

The audit focused on assessing the implementation of green industry principles, including energy efficiency, resource management, waste management, and reducing emissions and environmental impacts.

“The evaluation process was carried out to measure the extent to which PT Conch North Sulawesi Cement has adopted environmentally friendly technology and operational practices that support sustainability,” said Head of the Makassar Center for Standardization and Industrial Services for Plantation, Metal Mineral and Maritime Products, Shinta Virdhian.

Shinta said that the green industry certification conformity audit No. SIH 23941.1.2018 PT Conch North Sulawesi Cement shows that the company strives to meet strict green industry criteria for environmental sustainability. Efforts that have been made by the company include the use of modern technology to reduce energy consumption, the use of alternative raw materials and waste recycling as well as environmental restoration programs.

Shinta added that this audit is an important step in ensuring that the manufacturing industry in Indonesia can contribute to sustainable development.

“By participating in green industry certification, companies such as PT Conch North Sulawesi Cement show a commitment to not only increasing production efficiency but also preserving the environment,” he said.

Meanwhile, PT Conch North Sulawesi Cement welcomed this audit activity as motivation to improve its operational standards while providing a positive impact on the local environment.

Director of PT Conch North Sulawesi Cement, Sun Zhong Lin stated that this conformity audit provides the basis for the company’s commitment to carrying out responsible and sustainable operations.
