Doha, Qatar capital city. Doc

ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Deputy Minister of Housing and Residential Areas of the Republic of Indonesia, Fahri Hamzah conveyed Qatar’s investment commitment in supporting the 3 million house program launched by President Prabowo Subianto.

Fahri explained that after signing the commitment to build 1 million houses, Qatar was said to be interested in increasing its investment by 5 million houses.

“Yesterday in Qatar we signed 1 million units, the next day I met with ministerial officials from the Qatar Prime Minister’s office stating an additional commitment of 5 million units,” said Fahri at the Sustainable Housing, Building and Cities in Indonesia Seminar in Jakarta, Tuesday, January 14 2025.

Apart from Qatar, Fahri also said that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) had also given a signal to increase its investment commitment in supporting the 3 million house program.

Currently the Indonesian government has heard of the UAE’s investment interest in building 1 million houses in Indonesia.

“I went to the Emirates, the infrastructure minister said he was committed to building 1 million units, but after they heard that Qatar would add more, the Emirates also wanted to add,” he said.

Previously, Qatar officially signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the construction of 1 million houses in Indonesia on Wednesday, January 8 2025. The Indonesian Minister of Housing and Residential Areas, Maruarar Sirait, said that his party would immediately prepare the legal process and land for the construction of 1 million houses.

This was done as a follow-up to the investment commitment from Qilaa International Group, which is a construction company from Qatar.

“In accordance with President Prabowo Subianto’s direction, immediately prepare a team that is ready to fully prepare the legalities and land for construction,” he explained. (AT Network)
