ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian government is ready to launch Gold Bank, the first special gold storage bank established in this Southeast Asian country.
“We are ready to launch a gold bank, because so far we have not had a bank for our gold, none in Indonesia,” said the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta, Monday, February 17 2025.
Prabowo explained that the reason for establishing a special gold bank in Indonesia was because domestically mined gold commodities were very abundant, which was then exported without any special storage within the country.
The plan is that President Prabowo will inaugurate this gold bank on February 26 2025, and it will be the first in the country.
“A lot of our gold is mined and flows abroad. We now want to have a special bank for gold in Indonesia. God willing, we will inaugurate it on February 26, I think this is the first time in our republic,” said President Prabowo.
On the same occasion, President Prabowo announced Government Regulation Number 8 of 2025 which requires all exporters to deposit foreign exchange funds from natural resource exports in domestic banks.
This regulation is the latest regulation that regulates foreign exchange proceeds from the export of natural resources which was previously regulated through Government Regulation Number 36 of 2023.
Prabowo also announced a number of policies to encourage economic growth in the first quarter of 2025, including optimizing the distribution of social assistance, and disbursing holiday allowances for state civil servants and private workers in March 2025. (AT Network)
