The Governor of the Special Region of Jakarta, Pramono Anung, emphasized that the creative economy is a strategic sector that is the main pillar in increasing Jakarta’s competitiveness at the international level.

“We will realize it together so that the creative economy sector becomes an important pillar to support Jakarta as a global city,” said Pramono Anung.

Indonesian Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, emphasized that this collaboration supports the development of the creative economy in Jakarta, which not only functions as a business center but also as an epicenter of innovation, culture, and creativity.

“In 2027, the city of Jakarta will be 500 years old. There is a lot of potential for collaboration to activate creative economy activists in welcoming Jakarta’s 5th century. There are several points of cooperation that will be carried out, such as developing a creative economy ecosystem through research and education, organizing thematic events, activating creative economy corridors in various areas of Jakarta, increasing the capacity of creative economy activists, marketing and promotion, as well as exchanging and utilizing data and information,” said Teuku Riefky.

According to the Global City Index 2023, Jakarta is currently ranked 74th out of 156 cities in the world. Therefore, synergy between local governments and ministries is key to strengthening the creative economy ecosystem to be more advanced and competitive at the global level.

Governor Pramono Anung added that one of the strengths of this nation is because the creative economy is the DNA of Jakarta. As is known, Jakarta has contributed 11% to the Gross Domestic Product of the Indonesian economy.

“Therefore, Jakarta must be globally competitive with better creative economic conditions, a friendlier face, easier licensing, and all of that will be Jakarta’s hope to improve,” he added.

The creative economy is believed to be a new growth engine, both for Jakarta and Indonesia as a whole. Currently, Jakarta is one of eight provinces that have included the creative economy nomenclature in one of its departments. Thus, the management of the creative economy ecosystem is expected to be more optimal and provide real contributions to the creative industry in Jakarta.

“As a historic city, Jakarta is our shared pride. Every creative work born here is a reflection of the nation’s spirit. For that, we are committed to continuing to work together with the Province of Jakarta in building an inclusive, competitive, and sustainable creative economy ecosystem. This is in line with the ideals of Advanced Indonesia towards Golden Indonesia 2045,” said Teuku Riefky. (AT Network)
