ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to embark on his first official overseas trip of 2025, visiting Vietnam, Malaysia, and Cambodia from April 14 to 18. The visit highlights Southeast Asia’s central role in China’s foreign policy agenda.

According to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the trip underscores Beijing’s long-standing commitment to strengthening ties with its neighboring countries, particularly within the ASEAN region.

“Neighboring countries have always been a priority in China’s diplomacy. Southeast Asia is a vital partner, close friend, and neighbor with whom we share a common future,” said Lin Jian, spokesperson for the Ministry, on Saturday, April 12, 2025.

Lin Jian emphasized that China remains committed to foreign relations built on the principles of friendship, sincerity, mutual benefit, and openness. These principles are at the core of China’s engagement with ASEAN nations.

“We are dedicated to fostering close and trusting cooperation with countries in the region to promote shared development,” Lin added.

Xi Jinping’s upcoming visit marks his first diplomatic mission of the year, signaling a strategic step in reinforcing bilateral ties with key Southeast Asian countries. Beyond economic and political collaboration, the trip is expected to contribute positively to regional peace and global progress.

“This visit is expected to make a meaningful contribution to peace and advancement in the region and globally,” Lin concluded. (AT Network)
