ASIATODAY.ID, KUWAIT CITY — Indonesia and Kuwait have reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation across political-security, economic, and socio-cultural sectors.
This commitment was emphasized during a meeting between Indonesian Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Muhammad Anis Matta and Kuwaiti Deputy Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah in Kuwait City on October 30, 2025.
In the political and security domain, both countries agreed to strengthen collaboration between their security agencies, particularly in intelligence sharing related to terrorism, espionage, and transnational crimes.
On the economic front, Indonesia and Kuwait committed to expediting the conclusion of the Indonesia–GCC Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations by 2025, enhancing interactions between their Chambers of Commerce, and broadening investment opportunities — including potential partnerships between the Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) and Indonesia’s Danantara.
Both sides also agreed to advance energy cooperation through the convening of the 1st Kuwait Energy Forum in Indonesia at the end of 2025.
The meeting also discussed efforts to resume direct flights between the two nations to boost tourism and facilitate people-to-people exchanges, as well as opportunities for Indonesian skilled and formal workers to meet Kuwait’s labor market needs.
In addition, the two officials exchanged views on regional developments, particularly the Palestinian issue, calling for a permanent ceasefire and stronger internal unity among Palestinians.
“Kuwait is one of Indonesia’s key partners in the Gulf region. We are committed to advancing our relations toward a more strategic partnership that delivers tangible benefits for both our nations,” said Vice Minister Anis Matta in an official statement. (AT Network)
