ASIATODAY.ID, NEW DELHI – Russian President Vladimir Putin’s state visit to India has delivered a significant boost to one of Eurasia’s most enduring strategic partnerships.

Following high-level talks in New Delhi, on December 6,2025, Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi signed a series of landmark agreements aimed at expanding bilateral trade to $100 billion before 2030.

The accords span infrastructure, energy, pharmaceuticals, and media cooperation, underscoring both nations’ intent to deepen economic interdependence amid shifting global power dynamics.

A Partnership Reinforced by Trust and Personal Rapport

Putin praised India’s economic achievements under Modi’s leadership, noting that the country is pursuing “an independent sovereign policy” and delivering “strong economic results.”

He emphasized Russia’s commitment to developing “multifaceted relations” across strategic sectors.

Modi responded by highlighting the unique personal connection between the two leaders.

“Our acquaintance spans more than 25 years,” he said, adding that the foundation of the Russia–India relationship is mutual trust—a factor he believes will help both countries “achieve everything we envision.”

Modi expressed confidence that the bilateral trade target of $100 billion could be reached even before 2030.

Energy Security, Pharmaceutical Expansion, and High-Tech Cooperation

Russia reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring uninterrupted energy supplies to India—an assurance of major geopolitical and economic significance.

Putin also unveiled plans to establish a major pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in the Kaluga Region in partnership with Indian companies. The plant will produce high-quality anti-cancer medicines, tapping into India’s status as the “pharmacy of the world”, responsible for 60% of global vaccine output and more than 20% of generic drugs worldwide.

RT India Officially Launched

A notable highlight of the visit was Putin’s official launch of RT India, a media platform aimed at giving millions of Indian viewers “the opportunity to better understand the reality of Russia.”

The move strengthens Russia’s information presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing media markets.

The strength of Putin–Modi ties was visible throughout the two-day visit—from Modi’s red-carpet welcome to their informal drive together in a Toyota SUV. These gestures signaled the warmth and stability of a bilateral relationship that continues to hold strategic weight for both nations. (AT Network)
