ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian capital lit up with harmony and celebration as Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung and Deputy Governor Rano Karno officially kicked off the Colossal Christmas Carol at the iconic Bundaran HI on Thursday, December 11, 2025.
The event marks the opening of the Jakarta Christmas Celebration 2025, featuring 1,000 choir performers from various churches and community groups across the city.
The usually bustling roundabout turned into a massive open-air auditorium, filled with lights, music, and the joyful energy of thousands of spectators.
“This is the true face of Jakarta — a city that protects peace, respects diversity, and celebrates harmony,” Governor Pramono said.
Jakarta Becomes a Christmas City: 12 Days of Music, Light, and Togetherness
The Colossal Christmas Carol 2025 is set to run for 12 consecutive days until 23 December, bringing the spirit of Christmas to 10 landmark locations across the city: Bundaran HI, Kendal Tunnel, Sarinah, MRT ASEAN Station, Martha Christina Tiahahu Literacy Park, Front of Taman Ismail Marzuki, Front of Rawamangun Terminal, Central Jakarta, North Jakarta and West Jakarta.
All performances will take place daily from 16:00 to 17:30 WIB, turning Jakarta’s public spaces into vibrant stages of cultural celebration.
Governor Pramono also invited residents to pray for communities impacted by recent disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, and victims of the fire incident on Letjen Suprapto Street.
Jakarta’s Christmas Peak Event to Gather 14,000 Worshippers at JIExpo
Chairman of the Jakarta Christmas Committee 2025, Michael Rolandi, announced that the peak celebration will take place on January 9, 2026 at JIExpo Kemayoran, gathering 14,000 Christians from eight church denominations.
With the theme “God Is Present to Save Families”, the event aims to reinforce unity and togetherness among Jakarta’s diverse communities.
“Jakarta is a model of national unity. The Governor embraces all religions and all communities,” Michael emphasized.

Jakarta Light Festival (23–27 December)
Featuring 19 spectacular Christmas installations at Bundaran HI and beautification projects along the Sudirman–Thamrin corridor.
