ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA — The year 2026 is projected to be a critical turning point for organizations in Indonesia. Geopolitical uncertainty, global economic pressures, and the rapid acceleration of technological disruption are increasingly positioning risk as a decisive factor in strategic decision-making and organizational leadership.
Responding to this evolving landscape, Veda Praxis, in collaboration with DIGITS Universitas Padjadjaran, has released a study titled Business Risk Management 2026: Dynamics, Strategy, and Organizational Resilience in an Era of Uncertainty.
The study identifies key strategic risks shaping cross-sector management agendas while mapping the readiness of Indonesian organizations to navigate an increasingly complex and interconnected risk environment.
“The future of organizations—and the future of Indonesia—is not determined by how advanced their technology is, but by how mature they are in managing risk, strengthening governance, and maintaining trust,” said Syahraki Syahrir, CEO & Partner of Veda Praxis.
As part of the dissemination of the study’s findings, Veda Praxis and DIGITS hosted a webinar titled Future-Proofing Organizations: Risk Outlook 2026 on January 28, 2026.
The webinar brought together cross-disciplinary practitioners and academics, including Syahraki Syahrir; Hamzah Ritchi (Director of DIGITS Unpad, Research Partner at Veda Praxis, and Chair of the Information Systems Lecturers Forum of the Indonesian Institute of Accountants – Educators Compartment); Anjar Priandoyo (Certification Research & Education Director, ISACA Indonesia Chapter); Anak Agung Gde (Head of the Doctoral Accounting Program, Airlangga University, and Representative Member of the Indonesian Institute of Accountants – Educators Compartment); Tiara Faradilla Pong (Assistant Consulting Manager, GRC Advisory and Business Continuity Management Expert at Veda Praxis); and Larasati Puspa Saskia Salmana (DIGITS Unpad Research Team and Lecturer at Padjadjaran University).
The study reveals that macroeconomic pressures and global instability have emerged as the primary strategic risks across multiple sectors. However, it also highlights persistent internal challenges.
Approximately 80% of management respondents in Indonesia believe that risk management has not yet been fully embedded within organizational culture, despite growing awareness of risk-related issues.
“The greatest strategic risk challenge does not lie in uncertainty itself, but in organizations’ limited ability to translate that uncertainty into risk-aware, long-term strategic decisions,” said Anak Agung Gde.
Echoing these findings, discussions during the webinar underscored the need for concrete actions to close existing gaps in risk management practices.
“The future challenge of risk management is not merely about having a framework, but about governance maturity and cross-functional integration. Clear governance is essential to define who owns the risk, who provides oversight, and who performs the audit function,” said Hamzah Ritchi.
Through the publication of this study and the organization of the webinar, Veda Praxis and DIGITS encourage Indonesian organizations to advance beyond compliance and basic risk awareness.
As uncertainty increasingly becomes the norm, strengthening risk management as an integral part of strategy, governance, and organizational culture is seen as a critical foundation for building resilience and sustaining long-term competitiveness.
