ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA — Indonesia and the United States have agreed to deepen defense cooperation, with a renewed focus on air defense, military capacity building, and regional security in the Indo-Pacific.

The commitment was highlighted during a meeting between Indonesia’s Deputy Defense Minister Donny Ermawan Taufanto and Commander of the U.S. Pacific Air Forces (PACAF), General Kevin B. Schneider, in Jakarta on Thursday.

According to Indonesia’s Ministry of Defense, the discussions centered on strengthening bilateral defense ties through expanded cooperation in air defense, professional military education and training, strategic information exchange, and enhanced operational coordination.

Both sides reaffirmed the importance of maintaining close defense dialogue and developing mutually beneficial cooperation to address evolving regional security challenges while supporting peace and stability across the Indo-Pacific.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to continue strengthening defense engagement and maintaining regular communication as part of broader efforts to reinforce strategic trust between Jakarta and Washington.

Senior Indonesian defense and security officials, including representatives from the National Air Defense Command and the Ministry of Defense, also attended the meeting. (AT Network)
