ASIATODAY.ID, KENDAL — A Chinese high-tech printing company has officially started operations at Indonesia’s Kendal Special Economic Zone (KEK Kendal), strengthening Indonesia’s ambition to become a key manufacturing hub in Southeast Asia.
PT DKV Printing Indonesia has invested US$29 million and created approximately 500 jobs, marking another step in the expansion of technology-based manufacturing in Central Java.
The company’s inauguration on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 was attended by Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi, who said the investment reflects continued confidence from global investors in Indonesia amid shifting global economic conditions and geopolitical uncertainty.
“Amid global geopolitical dynamics, Central Java continues to gain investor trust. This investment demonstrates that Indonesia remains an attractive destination for global businesses,” Ahmad Luthfi said.
PT DKV Printing Indonesia specializes in advanced printing solutions, producing labels, packaging materials, shoe boxes, and other printing products supplied to various international brands.
Ahmad Luthfi said the significance of the investment extends beyond capital inflows, as it also contributes to technology transfer, workforce development, and the strengthening of Central Java’s industrial ecosystem.
“Investment is not only about the value of capital entering the region, but also about its impact on job creation, improving skills, transferring technology, and strengthening local industries,” he said.
The company has recruited around 500 workers, with many employees coming from communities surrounding the industrial area.
Kendal Emerges as a New Industrial Growth Center
The arrival of PT DKV Printing Indonesia further strengthens the role of KEK Kendal as one of Indonesia’s emerging industrial growth centers.
Central Java has increasingly attracted global investors due to its strategic location, improving industrial infrastructure, investment-friendly environment, regulatory certainty, and availability of skilled labor.
Ahmad Luthfi said investors from several countries, including China, Singapore, Hong Kong, and South Korea, continue to explore business opportunities in the province.
“Central Java is one of Indonesia’s provinces with strong competitiveness in terms of both workforce and investment opportunities,” he said.
In the same event, Ahmad Luthfi also inaugurated PT Foodindo Dwivestamas, a domestic investment company operating in the processed food sector.
The company invested US$15 million and created around 150 jobs.
With both projects, the total investment value inaugurated at KEK Kendal reached approximately US$44 million, generating employment opportunities for around 650 people.
The expansion of these industrial projects highlights Indonesia’s ongoing efforts to attract quality investment, accelerate technology adoption, and strengthen its position within regional and global supply chains. (AT Network)
