ASIATODAY.ID, KUALA LUMPUR – Minister of Defense and President-elect of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, continues to build intensive communication with leaders of countries in Southeast Asia as a step to strengthen ASEAN solidity.
On Saturday, September 7 2024, Prabowo Subianto met Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, in Kuala Lumpur. This meeting was held after Prabowo met the King of Malaysia, Sultan Ibrahim.
During the meeting, Prabowo and Anwar Ibrahim discussed the commitment to bilateral cooperation between the two countries which will continue to run well in line with strengthening Indonesia-Malaysia relations in various fields.
Prabowo expressed his optimism after the signing of the MoU in the defense sector between Indonesia and Malaysia on August 9 2022, where defense cooperation between the two countries will become increasingly significant, both in the fields of defense industry, education, operations and training, and other cooperation.
“Thank you for the constructive discussion today. “I reaffirm the commitment of the Indonesian Ministry of Defense to jointly create bilateral defense relations that are harmonious and mutually beneficial for both countries,” said Prabowo.
In educational cooperation, the number of Indonesian National Army/Ministry of Defense personnel carrying out education in Malaysia from 1967 to 2024 is more than 500 personnel. Meanwhile, the number of Malaysian personnel undertaking education in Indonesia from 1970 to 2024 is more than 200 people.
Meanwhile, Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim said that the meeting had discussed several matters of mutual interest.
“The most important thing is our commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries. “We also emphasize our commitment to guarantee and strengthen ASEAN regional cooperation,” said Anwar. (AT Network)
