ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Central Java declared a flood emergency for nine regions. Currently the number of affected residents has reached 226,601 people, 36,086 of whom were displaced, and 15 people died.

The nine areas currently under water in Central Java and declared a flood emergency are Pekalongan Regency, Kendal, Semarang City, Demak, Kudus, Pati, Jepara and Grobogan.

The acting Governor of Central Java, Nana Sudjana, while inspecting the broken embankment in Demak, asked for an evaluation of all river embankments to be carried out, as a measure to anticipate the embankment breaking due to its inability to withstand high water discharge.
