Earthquake in Japan, Indonesian Government Monitors 1,315 Residents in Ishikawa Prefecture

ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian government is coordinating with the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia Tokyo and the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia Osaka after the large earthquake that hit Japan.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also said there were more than 1,300 Indonesian citizens living in Ishikawa Prefecture.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently coordinating with the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo and the Indonesian Consulate General in Osaka to determine the impact of the earthquake and tsunami. The Indonesian Embassy and Consulate General are coordinating with local authorities and Indonesian community members. “The Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo’s self-report system recorded that there were 1,315 Indonesian citizens living in Ishikawa Prefecture,” wrote a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Monday, January 1 2024.

The Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo and the Indonesian Consulate General in Osaka have issued an appeal for Indonesian citizens to remain alert regarding aftershocks and tsunamis. Indonesian citizens are also asked to always monitor information and directions from local authorities.

The earthquake caused tsunami waves in several areas. Meanwhile, NHK recorded the earthquake as measuring 7.6 magnitude.
