ASIATODAY.ID, TANGERANG — Indonesia is strengthening its position as a regional construction hub by expanding cooperation opportunities with global industry players from China, Singapore, Vietnam, Canada and other countries through IndoBuildTech Expo 2026.
The construction exhibition, held at ICE BSD, Tangerang, Banten, has brought together around 500 exhibitors, including international participants showcasing building materials, interior solutions, furniture, and advanced construction technologies.
Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), who officially opened the exhibition on Wednesday, July 7, 2026, emphasized that Indonesia’s construction industry must become a key driver of sustainable economic growth through innovation, competitiveness, and improved quality.
“Construction is not only about developing physical structures. It is an instrument to improve public welfare, strengthen national competitiveness, and accelerate equitable development across Indonesia,” AHY said.
Global Players Explore Indonesia’s Growing Construction Market
AHY highlighted that the construction sector remains one of Indonesia’s strategic economic pillars, contributing significantly to national GDP while creating employment opportunities.
A stronger construction ecosystem, he said, will support Indonesia’s major development programs, including housing projects, roads, bridges, irrigation networks, and public infrastructure.
“We do not only want to build more, but we must build better — with higher quality, greater impact, and benefits for all communities,” AHY stated.
The participation of companies and industry players from China, Singapore, Vietnam, Canada and other countries demonstrates growing international interest in Indonesia’s infrastructure transformation and expanding construction market.
The Indonesian government sees international participation as a strategic opportunity to accelerate technology transfer, expand business networks, and strengthen the competitiveness of domestic industries in the global construction sector.
Indonesia Promotes Sustainable and Resilient Infrastructure
AHY stressed that future infrastructure development must address global challenges, particularly climate change and increasing disaster risks.
He called for the adoption of stronger, more durable, and environmentally adaptive construction materials to ensure infrastructure resilience in the long term.
“Future infrastructure must be increasingly adaptive to climate challenges. Construction materials must become stronger, more resilient, and capable of facing various potential risks,” AHY said.
During his visit to the exhibition area, AHY praised Indonesian companies for producing increasingly competitive products with higher domestic content levels.
He said local industries have demonstrated their ability to compete internationally through innovation, quality improvement, and technological advancement.
Strengthening Asia’s Construction Cooperation Network
IndoBuildTech Expo 2026 is not only a showcase for construction products but also a platform connecting governments, investors, architects, academics, and industry players.
The event provides opportunities for collaboration between Indonesia and international partners in developing sustainable construction solutions and expanding business partnerships.
Chairman of the Indonesian Institute of Architects (IAI) Banten Chapter Shri Chandra Satryotomo said collaboration among architects, construction industries, academics, businesses, and government institutions is essential to creating innovative and sustainable development.
“Cross-sector collaboration is the key to ensuring Indonesia’s development creates not only quality buildings but also better living spaces for communities,” he said.
The exhibition was attended by Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya, Deputy Minister of Public Works Diana Kusumastuti, representatives from the Indonesian Architects Association, and industry stakeholders.
Through IndoBuildTech Expo 2026, Indonesia is positioning its construction sector as an increasingly attractive destination for international investment, technology cooperation, and industrial partnerships across Asia. (AT Network)
