ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto decided that Indonesia is willing to join as a member of the New Development Bank (NDB) to obtain sustainable development financing cooperation.
Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, Sri Mulyani revealed this after accompanying President Prabowo Subianto who had a meeting with NDB President, Dilma Rousseff, at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
“Earlier, President Dilma conveyed to President Prabowo about various possibilities for cooperation and the possibility of NDB attracting Indonesia as a member. President Prabowo heard the explanation and decided that we would become members,” said Sri Mulyani.
Sri Mulyani said that Indonesia had undergone various technical discussions with the New Development Bank before finally deciding to join as a member.
In the meeting, various technical aspects were discussed with the NDB, including membership requirements, contributions from other member countries, and the role of the NDB in supporting Indonesia’s economic development.
NDB is a multilateral development bank established by BRICS countries to finance infrastructure projects and sustainable development in developing countries.
NDB focuses on infrastructure development, then on development to combat poverty with programs that support industrialization so that it will increase job creation.
According to Sri Mulyani, one of the potential collaborations that is expected is cooperation between NDB and Danantara as an Indonesian infrastructure financing institution.
