ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital has officially suspended the licenses of Worldcoin and WorldID following public reports of suspicious activities linked to these digital services. The suspension aims to protect citizens from potential risks in the digital space.
“This suspension is a preventive measure to safeguard the public,” said Alexander Sabar, Director General of Digital Space Supervision at Ministry of Communication and Digital, in an official statement on Sunday, May 5, 2025.
Ministry of Communication and Digital plans to summon representatives from PT Terang Bulan Abadi and PT Sandina Abadi Nusantara to clarify alleged violations of Indonesia’s electronic system regulations related to the operation of Worldcoin and WorldID in the country.
Preliminary investigations revealed that PT Terang Bulan Abadi is not registered as an electronic system operator and lacks the mandatory Electronic System Provider Registration Certificate as stipulated by Indonesian law. Instead, Worldcoin’s operations in Indonesia were found to be using a TDPSE registered under a different legal entity, PT Sandina Abadi Nusantara.
According to Government Regulation No. 71 of 2019 on Electronic System and Transaction Operations and Ministerial Regulation No. 10 of 2021, all digital service providers in Indonesia are legally required to be registered and fully accountable for their services.
“Non-compliance with registration requirements and the use of another legal entity’s credentials to operate a digital service constitutes a serious violation,” Alexander emphasized.
Ministry of Communication and Digital reaffirmed its commitment to supervising Indonesia’s digital ecosystem to ensure a secure and trustworthy online environment for the public.
“We urge the public to actively help maintain a safe and reliable digital space in Indonesia,” he added.
The ministry also advised citizens to stay vigilant against unauthorized digital services. If users encounter suspected violations involving digital platforms such as Worldcoin and WorldID, they are encouraged to report them through Ministry of Communication and Digital’s official public complaint channels.
