ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian Army and the United States Army Pacific Command (USARPAC) have agreed to increase cooperation to maintain stability in the Asia-Pacific region.
In a meeting at TNI Army Headquarters, Jakarta, Monday, April 22 2024, the Chief of Staff of the TNI Army, General Maruli Simanjuntak, and the Commander General of the United States Army Pacific Command, General Charles A. Flynn, also explored opportunities for cooperation in the fields of education and exchange. soldiers, transfer of knowledge and technology, joint exercises, and collaborative efforts between the Indonesian Army and the US Army in improving the land defense of the two countries.
As conveyed by the Indonesian Army Information Service in its official broadcast in Jakarta, Maruli welcomed the proposal for cooperation from the Commander General of USARPAC.
Maruli also emphasized the TNI Army’s commitment to deepening cooperation in the military field with USARPAC. He continued that Flynn’s visit to Army Headquarters was a demonstration of the strong cooperative relations between the two countries.
Flynn in his meeting with Maruli also appreciated the cooperation that exists between Indonesia and the US, especially in the military field.
He emphasized that cross-border cooperation is important in maintaining peace and maintaining security in the region. Flynn is also committed to continuing and strengthening military cooperation and good relations between USARPAC and the Indonesian Army.
USARPAC which is part of the US Military Defense Command in the Indo-Pacific (USINDOPACOM) is headquartered in Hawaii, United States. USARPAC was formed in 1898 and currently oversees several regions in the Pacific region such as Alaska, Hawaii, the Pacific Ocean, Japan, South Korea.
Also, it operates in several regions in Southeast Asia and South Asia such as India and Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, General Flynn, who currently leads USARPAC, has been in office since June 4 2021. (ATN)
