ASIATODAY.ID, CARMONA – The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), visited Kopiko Philippines Corporation (KPC), which is part of PT Mayora Indah Tbk, the leading coffee producer in the Philippines.
In a statement after the inspection in Carmona, on Wednesday, January 10 2024, President Jokowi stated that KPC, as an investment in the Indonesian business world, had succeeded in controlling almost 50 percent of the market in the Philippines.
President Jokowi was very impressed with the large number of coffee products produced by KPC. He hopes that this industry can have a positive impact on Indonesian farmers by providing adequate production raw materials.
“So I think the number of sachet coffee products is very large and it will contribute to the need for raw materials for coffee, cassava and other things which will be very good for farmers,” said Jokowi.
Apart from visiting the food and beverage industry, President Jokowi also explored the seaweed processing industry at W Hydrocolloids Inc.
After the review, President Jokowi stated that Indonesia had a great opportunity to develop this industry, supported by its extensive coastal areas.
According to President Jokowi, Indonesia has great potential in processing seaweed, and Indonesia can develop it throughout the country because it has a very long coastline.
President Jokowi hopes that seaweed processing in Indonesia can continue to increase, providing added value for farmers, and even enabling product exports to the Philippines and other countries.
According to Jokowi, Indonesia needs to prepare our farmers to have greater capacity, so that part of the production can be consumed in Indonesia, and part can be exported to the Philippines or other countries, providing added value for national farmers. (AT Network)
