ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA — Indonesia’s jewelry industry continues to show a strong upward trend in global markets.
The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) reported that Indonesia’s exports of jewelry and precious goods reached USD 4.05 billion during January–June 2025, marking a 23% increase compared to the same period last year at USD 3.29 billion.
“As a nation with a long-standing tradition in jewelry craftsmanship, Indonesia is capable of producing creations that captivate not only the domestic market but also international buyers,” said Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita in Jakarta on Monday, October 13, 2025.
According to Kemenperin data, the top five export destinations for Indonesian jewelry include Switzerland, Hong Kong, India, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Jordan. In 2024, Indonesia held a 2.5% global market share, ranking 12th in the world for jewelry and precious goods exports.
International Exhibitions Strengthen Indonesia’s Jewelry Industry
One of the key initiatives by Kemenperin to boost the national jewelry industry is facilitating promotion and market expansion at both national and international levels.
This commitment was reflected in the ministry’s support for the Surabaya International Jewellery Fair (SIJF) 2025, an international-scale exhibition that serves as a strategic platform for Indonesian jewelry producers to showcase their creations and meet potential buyers from around the world.
The exhibition, organized by the Indonesian Gold and Gem Entrepreneurs Association (APEPI), marks its 28th edition this year. In addition to featuring gold, silver, and gemstone products, SIJF also connects producers, raw material suppliers, distributors, and buyers across the jewelry value chain.
The Directorate General of Small, Medium, and Miscellaneous Industries (IKMA) at Kemenperin facilitated eight carefully selected Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in jewelry to participate in SIJF 2025, held from October 9–12 in Surabaya.
“We appreciate APEPI’s consistency in organizing international-scale jewelry fairs such as the Jakarta International Jewellery Fair (JIJF), Bandung Jewellery Fair (BJF), and **Surabaya International Jewellery Fair (SIJF),” said Director General of IKMA Reni Yanita.
She added, “These exhibitions play a vital role in expanding market access and strengthening the promotion of national jewelry products. We hope events like this will make a significant contribution to the growth of Indonesia’s jewelry industry.”
The eight selected SMEs include:
Maza Handcrafted Pearl and Jewelry, Concha, and DSW Jewellery from West Nusa Tenggara;
Suteja Silver from Bali;
Nara’s Beads Collection and Vite/Oniecraft from Jakarta;
Kiki Gerssom from East Java;
and Permata Falitha from South Kalimantan.
Bullion Bank to Strengthen Jewelry Industry Ecosystem
Reni also highlighted the government’s strategic step in strengthening the jewelry industry structure through the establishment of the Bullion Bank, launched by the President of Indonesia in February 2025.
“The Bullion Bank aims to enhance liquidity and gold financing access for the industry, facilitate raw material procurement, and improve supply chain efficiency — ultimately boosting the competitiveness of Indonesia’s jewelry industry on the global stage,” she explained.
Kemenperin is committed to overseeing the Bullion Bank’s implementation to ensure that jewelry SMEs can benefit from easier and more affordable access to gold as raw material.
Beyond financing and promotion, Kemenperin continues to implement strategic programs to expand market access and enhance the competitiveness of the national jewelry sector. These include:
Participation in domestic and international exhibitions,
The e-Smart SME program,
Business matching events with Indonesian Trade Promotion Centers (ITPC) and Trade Attachés,
The Domestic Product Utilization Program (P3DN),
Machinery and equipment restructuring schemes, and
Technical training for jewelry artisans.
“Through SIJF 2025, Indonesia is not only ready to follow global jewelry trends but is also poised to create new trends that reflect the nation’s local craftsmanship and cultural excellence,” Reni concluded. (AT Network)
